I love sketch challenges- it takes a lot of the pressure off of the designer. Sometimes when I'm having a craft block, I use old sketches and it helps clear the blocks. Give it try! This week at Crazy 4 Challenges are we are using the sketch below and it's a team members birthday so why not make a birthday card!
I for one love birthdays- there's something about celebrating that makes me happy!
I've made a super simple, but very elegant card for this week's challenge and I love the layered look of each of my elements.
A2 Card: (4.25"x 5.5")
Card stock- This will be your card base and should be 8.5"x 5.5". Score your card at 4.25" and fold. Remember, turn your card over to fold~ the paper fibers will already be broken and you will have a smoother fold.
Patterned Paper- This is the mat layer of your card. Cut this piece to 4" x 4.25".2"x 5" and then cut a coordinating piece of paper to 2"x 4.25". This strip will highlight your stamped imgge.
For the stamped image layer- stamp your image and size to fit your card style. This layer is wider than the strip, but my stamped image is a little off center (on purpose).
After I stamped my image, I used a light pink copic marker to color only the center of the flower and inked the edges of my stamped image to match the flowers. You can see I made 2 of the same card, but by changing the colors and adding different embellishments, the card takes on a new look.
Start the layers on your card now- this will allow you to space your stamped image correctly. **Note- I used a paper doily for some additional layering and texture.
I wanted this card to shine with bling- I used a few sizes of pink sequins and lightly glued them down to the card. (After all, who doesn't love bling?)
This type of card is a great way to use up your scrap paper and it's super quick.
I hope you'll stop by to share and visit us at Crazy 4 Challenges!
