First, let me say, I'm so excited to be joining the Crazy 4 Challenges Team and I can't wait to share and learn with all of you.
It's a brand new month for challenges with us and we're starting off with rainbows as we celebrate Rainbow Day on April 3rd. Your project doesn't have to be a true rainbow, but it should have lots of colors.
The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. ~Dolly Parton
I live on a mountain in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Front Royal, VA and I'm close enough to the river and lakes, so we quite often have rainbows. Each one as unique as each of our crafting styles!
I went with the idea of using lots of colors on top of an embossed butterfly.
To make an A2 card I cut my card base (4.25"x 5.5") and my stamp base (4"x 5").
I stamped my Swallowtail butterfly in Versa Mark 4 times. Once on my stamp base and 3 times on white card stock. Remember, VersMark is clear but you should be able to see the impression. Put the lid back on the Versamark as soon as your done- everything sticks to it!
Using white embossing powder (any color would work) I completely covered each butterfly gently tapping off any extra.
I sponged my stamp base layer with light shades of darker colors completely covering the card and embossed butterfly- the effect is amazing and I love it. You will repeat this step for all 4 layers using light colors as you do.
Here is why we needed 4 of the same image- I fussy cut each layer a little smaller than the first and using a pop dot I layered the butterfly.
Lastly, using black ink, just lightly sponge the edges to give it just a little more life.
Take your stamp base and center it on your mat and adhere to the card base.
Thanks for checking out my card. I can't wait to see yours!
